1. About these terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of UniUyo Community (the "Platform"). By creating an account, you agree to these terms. UniUyo Community is an independent, student-operated platform and is not an official service of the University of Uyo.

2. Eligibility

UniUyo Community is intended for current students, staff, alumni, and businesses connected to the University of Uyo community. You confirm that the information you provide during registration, including your account type and any verification documents, is accurate.

3. Registration fee

Creating an account requires a one-time registration fee, which varies by account type as shown at signup. This is a lifetime access fee — there are no recurring subscription charges. Registration fees are generally non-refundable once an account has been successfully created, except where required by law or at our discretion in cases of a genuine payment or account creation error.

4. Your account

• You're responsible for keeping your login details secure
• One account per person — accounts are not transferable
• You must be truthful about your account type and identity during registration

5. Acceptable use

When using UniUyo Community, you agree not to:

• Post false, fraudulent, or scam listings (hostels, marketplace items, vendor services, etc.)
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
• Upload content that is illegal, obscene, or infringes on someone else's rights
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other accounts or platform systems
• Misrepresent your identity or account type to gain a lower fee or unauthorized access

Accounts found violating these rules may be suspended or removed without a refund.

6. User-generated content

You retain ownership of content you post (listings, notes, past questions, posts, etc.), but by posting it, you grant UniUyo Community permission to display it to other users as part of the normal operation of the platform. You're responsible for the accuracy and legality of what you post.

7. Verified vendors & listings

We make reasonable efforts to verify vendors, operators, and listings marked as "Verified," but we cannot guarantee every transaction or interaction between users. Always exercise normal caution when meeting sellers, hostel agents, or vendors in person.

8. Platform availability

We aim to keep UniUyo Community reliable and available, but as an independently-run platform, we don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and features may change, be added, or be removed as the platform develops.

9. Limitation of liability

UniUyo Community is provided "as is." We are not liable for losses arising from user-to-user transactions, inaccurate listings posted by users, or third-party service outages (such as our payment processor or hosting provider). Nothing in these terms limits liability where it cannot legally be limited.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may request deletion of your account at any time by contacting us.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the platform grows. Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the updated terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
